Commission for "The Horse in Art, Mythology, Literature and Song"

Soprano Jean del Santo, Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Minnesota School of Music in Minneapolis, has commissioned me to compose music for an inter-arts performance piece entitled “The Horse in Art, Mythology, Literature and Song”. Various equine inspired texts will be set; members of the dance department will present choreography based on equine mythology from various world cultures, and students and faculty from the art department will provide background visuals for this project. Projected performance dates would be in late April 2005 in conjunction with the Minnesota Horse Expo, one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
