A College Music Society Seminar /Live Concert will be presented by baritone David Dillard, cellist Eric Lenz and pianist Paul Transue, faculty members of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. The live performance of Lori’s cycle The Seed of Dream will be followed by a 3-way dialogue that will include the audience, the performers and Lori, all linked via internet video.
The performance will take place October 21, 2009 at 7:30 pm at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, 6651 SW Capitol Highway, Portland OR. The event is free and open to the public. Please call 503-244-0111 to reserve a spot.
The discussion will focus on the interaction of history, poetry, sound and narrative. Literary works written by Yiddish poet and Holocaust survivor Abraham Sutzkever, are set to music in The Seed of Dream, which is scored for baritone voice, cello, and piano. This work is both a testament to Sutzkever’s experience and the millions who suffered under the Nazi regime.
