Vedem Premiere and Recording

The world premiere of Lori’s Holocaust oratorio Vedem took place in Benaroya Recital Hall, in Seattle, WA on May 10, 2010, before a sold-out crowd. This new oratorio, another collaboration with poet David Mason, is a musical tribute to the boys of Terezin and their secret journal Vedem  — Czech for “In the Lead”.

The oratorio was commissioned by Music of Remembrance and is part of an ambitious project which also features a documentary, “The Boys of Terezin,” by John Sharify, as well as a recording for the Naxos label, to be released in spring of 2011.

Four of the surviving Vedem “boys” were in attendance: George Brady from Canada, Leopold Lowy and Sidney Taussig from the US, and Emil Kopel from Australia.
