A review of "I Never Saw Another Butterfly"
The "event" of the evening was the local premiere of a song cycle by Lori Laitman, "I Never Saw Another Butterfly,".... Laitman writes idiomatically for both voice and sax (the two shadow each other throughout the cycle, in contrapuntal symbiosis); her harmonic language is mostly consonant, and she pays acute attention to her texts.
