I am thrilled to be included in Scott Pool‘s Lullabies for Solo Bassoon, Volume I, released in late June 2026. I rarely write anything that does not include voice, but I was intrigued by Scott’s project. My first attempts came out as etudes, resulting in a separate bassoon cycle, Two for One. Determined to also create a lullaby, I used some of the pitch material from the etudes, and altered rhythms and character to create Bedtime Story . The original is for alto saxophone; and a version for baritone saxophone was created for saxophonist Griffin Campbell.
