Here is the schedule:

From April 20-26:  The Boys of Terezin: a documentary by John Sharify that tells the story of the boys of Terezin and their secret magazine Vedem (Czech for “In the Lead”) — and how, 67 years later, 4 of the 6 living survivors came to Seattle to attend the premiere of my oratorio Vedem in May 2010. 

From April 27-May 3: Vedem, my oratorio with librettist David Mason. Dave tells the story of the boys imprisoned in Home Number 1 of the Terezin Concentration Camp during WWII, and interweaves 6 poems from the original Vedem magazine, by Petr Ginz, Hanus Hachenburg, Zdenek Ornest and Josef Taussig.

From May 4-10: Camp Songs by Paul Schoenfield, a setting of five poems written by Polist journalist Alexander Kulisiewicz while imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp during WWII.

From May 11-17: Veritas by Shinji Eshima. This multimedia work is a reflection on the consequences of religious intolerance and incorporates images of sculptor Al Farrow’s works from his “Vandalized Doors” series.

From May 18-24: For a Look or a Touch, the song cycle by composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer, whichexamines the Nazi persecution of homosexuals by focusing on the true love story of Manfred Lewin and Gad Beck.

This oratorio was commissioned by Mina Miller, Founder and Artistic Director of Music of Remembrance, and made possible by a generous grant from the William O and K Carole Ellison Foundation. Music of Remembrance (MOR) premiered the work at the Illsley Ball Recital Hall in Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA on May 10, 2010.
